Re: British Man NICHOLAS HYETT Found Dead in Kampot Motorbike Accident

He was my next door neighbour in Kampot.

Yes he did have a Filipino wife.

He used to drive like a madman.

RIP Nick.

Re: What is a decent income for living in Cambodia?
That's an amazing breakdown. Do you mind saying which area of PP you live in?
Thank You. When in PP, I live in the centre of PP, Daun Penh, Street 174 just off Norodom. One of the keys to not spending too much is to have your own transport. Those Tuk Tuk fares do add up. Also findi...

Re: What is a decent income for living in Cambodia?

My ex-girlfriend told me I am too poor for her. I make most of my income from a trust that my father left me after he died. The only stipulation on my income is that I am not allowed to get married. My income is $1300.00 a month. $1500 if you count the interest on my savings account and treasury bo...

Re: My first solo visa run

Next time pop up to O'smach border. Not too far away and a quiet easy border. Leave Cambodia, enter Thailand, walk back, stay the night at the Casino (in Cambodia, but technically in no mans land - no one checks anything). In the morning walk back to Thai Immigration, leave Thailand, enter Cambodia ...

Does anyone know what kind of tests were conducted in Cambodia?

Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches

Only one case in Cambodia to date? I call bullsh1t on this. Unrestricted flights from China still and Wuhan in particular at the start. Rumour is that testing costs $400, since there is no treatment, what is the point in being diagnosed at the equivalent cost of over 3 months wages for most people? ...

Re: Outbreak of Unidentified Coronavirus In China as New Year Approaches

I would guess that the virus or carriers are already in Cambodia, just no one has been diagnosed with the symptoms. If it starts to spread in Cambodia it could become one of the worse affected places in the world given the quality of the medical system and the habits of many people. I hope I am prov...

Re: Electric $$$$$ for studio apartment?

It will depend on the air conditioner you are using and the settings and cost of electricity. I use a new inverter, set on 40% power and about 24 degrees. My studio is about 35sqm. I pay 800 riel per kw/h. It uses 8 kw hours per 24 hours. When it is hot outside I run it 24/7. so 6400 reil per day fo...
