They don't use VS, but they ARE using robust IDEs... just none really compare with it for power and usability (though PHPStorm isn't too bad). To imagine to yourself that they don't is naive. IntelliJ, Eclipse, PHPStorm. Though for C,C++ I've certainly met more than a few who use VS for them. Even ...

Re: A fond farewell(ish).

You lot can't read for shit. He said he was quitting admin the site because of time constraints at work Well, of course that's what he said. It's the forum admin equivalent of "My bar is doing great, and I'm only selling it for health reasons." Remember that keeping_it_riel had a meltdown...

Re: Google cardboard

And minecraft... dear god. That games 8bit graphics success is 100% evidence that the videophile aspect isn't the mainstream. That good playability will literally trump everything else.

Re: Google cardboard

I know people who sit at their phones and play for hours. We're not talking angry birds... we're talking FPS and RPG. Especially kids. You're behind on what's popular with the younger (thus spending) generation. And these mostly aren't free games. Some, with in-app revenue basis. But most of these a...

Re: When is software free?

Evil and must be shunned... Wow. Idealist are amusing. Especially when condemning others for wishing to preserve the fruits of their labors. Google and Facebook are not doing that bad with respect to preserving the fruit of their labour, which they have built entirely on top of free software. Googl...

Re: Visual Studio cross platform is now released, and free!!

This sounds more like the classical debate about frameworks to me. Anyway, OD, can you please show somebody that has successfully written an operating system using Visual Studio? Somebody that ever implemented a network stack in Visual Studio? Has anyone written a debugger in it? Disassembler? How ...

And more specifically how much more effort and research is going into making mobile more powerful vs pc... Phones are what's hot in tech... and where the majority of the research is going to make them stronger and faster every 6 months... so you'll upgrade. Again and again and again. I know many peo...

Re: Whats going on with the site, Cloud scout advertising

Yeah, all that advertising (aside from the one banner at the top on the old theme) is something from your browser hijack... not the site.

sounds like you have a nasty infection going on.

As for the theme, ppl can still switch back (again) to the new theme if they choose in their profile settings.

Re: A fond farewell(ish).

I was stepping back from posting... which mostly I did. But kept on adminning. Now I'm stepping out of that as well.

And per GenMacs request I have gone ahead and reactivated the new theme if people want to keep using it.
