Re: Salary/wage for a Khmer gardener?

Thank you all for your replies, only... I am so much more confused than before I asked[emoji30] $10 an hour sounds really high. My wife makes less than that as an English teacher- with muliple linguistics degrees & experience at prestigious school in US. On the other hand, $5 a day sounds too lo...

Salary/wage for a Khmer gardener?

I would like to hire a gardener to maintain my small yard, mostly pavement and shade trees, plus help create a couple of nice raised flower and vegetabe beds. I was thinking 3-4 hours, twice a week. What should I offer? I want to pay fairly, maybe even generously if they do good work. What would a g...

Re: Weekly rates for tuktuk?

So, based on what y'all are saying... the guy charging my wife $200 a month should either supply us with free lube, or find someone else to screw.

Weekly rates for tuktuk?

I need to hire a tuktuk by the week to commute my wife and daughter to and from work/school every day. 5 trips to work in the morning, 5 rides home, 4 km each per week. I am in sihanoukville. How much should I expect to pay?

Re: New In Town

As far as the advert to work as a chef: that was a joke. Mostly. Nobody could possibly put up with my perfectionist attitude. I might open my own restaurant though, and then run it into the ground within a year. I mean, isnt that what all the cool kids do?

Re: RE: Re: New In Town

"It was a hard lesson which cost me around $500..." Every foreigner who comes here learns the hard way even those who claim to have done their homework. I live rurally with my Cambodian wife and two kids in a.modest dwelling with cement not dirt floors. Education is a hassle and rural edu...

Re: New In Town

Thank you all for the warm welcome! To those who are a bit alarmed at the idea of raising a child here- know that the villa we rent is very secure, in a quiet gated neighborhood with 24/7 security. It has far less crime than the places we lived in Indianapolis or Washington DC and is far more modern...

American chef for hire (Sihanoukville)

If you are starting a new restaurant in Sihanoukville or have old one that needs new life breathed into it... If you want to serve the best western food in town, whether it is incredible baked Mac'n cheese and Chili to die for... or seared duck breast with parsnip puree and rum reduction- I can give...

New In Town

Howdy y'all! A little introduction seem in order. They call me Jack. My little family and I (Self 37, Wife 36, Daughter 5) have relocated from Bloomington, Indiana, USA to the lovely(?) land of Sihanouk. The past two weeks have been interesting (to say the least) but we do enjoy it here and -perhaps...
