IFAs and QROPS
A question mainly for the Brits...
Has anyone transferred their UK pension(s) into a QROPS scheme? Did you use an IFA to arrange it or were you able to do everything by yourself?
Open to all...
Can anyone recommend a good IFA? Bonus points if they know about QROPS.
Has anyone used Chase Belgrave or Abbey Financial Services and care to share information about the experience?

Re: IFAs and QROPS
Hi,
I would always suggest using an IFA, and fully research them and the company in full, as a great deal of International advisers do not have the relevant qualifications to understand your whole financial situation, or the tax planning advantages of the various schemes.
If you want to get in contact with me I can put you in touch with FCA regulated Advisers who can also advise on QROPS, and with no obligation.
Hope this helps a little.

^ Good stuff (or so I'm assuming, as I don't know any of those acronyms, LoL).
And for the record, I've never been down with OPP.

With nothing negative implied, as this is Matt's first post, I'm impressed with his/his firm's net forum monitoring skills. Kudos.eliteexpat wrote:Hi...

I was impressed by getting not just a PM but also an email to one of my real email addresses. Not hard to find, but still a good effort.

Re: IFAs and QROPS
Very few companies have people with feet on the ground in Cambodia. It's slim pickings for FA's. St. James International had a seasoned FA in Cambodia for nearly a year before calling it a day. Many have come and gone. I guess making money off of guys struggling to pay .50 a beer is not a winning formula. To your question all of the UK based Wealth Management companies will do it for you and I recommend doing it. Take control of your money ASAP. Depending on the size of the QROP you might have a rep fly over to meet with you. St. James Place is in Hong Kong and are an excellent choice. For something small I think Infinity will meet with you or one of the St. James International folks in Thailand or Vietnam. Anyway, there's no shortage of people who can help you out. I think its a smart move. Just make sure its a company that's been around awhile and understand your situation and needs. Good luck!
