Thailand No.1 for motorcycle deaths
Motorbike accident deaths: Thailand number one in the world
Experts at a conference promoting a motorcycle safety campaign have said that Thailand is number one in motorcycle accident deaths.
On average 5,500 motorcyclists die annually in Thailand and the figures are just going up and up despite measures to try and stop the increase.
And the problem is particularly bad among the nation’s youth, reported Manager.
Some 2,500 under twenties are dying annually on the roads.
The experts have now called on manufacturers of bikes in Thailand to use available technology to limit speeds to 90 kilometers per hour.
They said that the problem rests with the fact that speed sells but also that speed kills, nod it’s often the case that the accident was caused by speed here in Thailand.
It was stated that bike manufacturers were often obliged to install safety features for the export market that were not insisted upon for sales locally.
Thanapong Jinwong, a road safety advisor speaking at the launch of “Safety Bike” said that deaths in motorcycle accidents are going up and up unabated.
While the country has the dubious distinction of being number two in all road deaths per capita it was number one in motorcycle fatalities, he said...

Whatever is going to cause a death at 120kmh will likely also cause a death at 90. Lower it to 60 and you may see some results.
Advertising that glorifies speed, even for scoopy-type bikes, doesn't help.
Take male university students on a tour of hospital emergency rooms on a Saturday night.

Its NOT just speed;;;;Many of the accidents are caused by immature riders, Just last week
Surin, Thailand 2 11 year olds riding a samlor took a corner to fast, flipped and a truck behind them, ran them over
monday 2 15 year olds on a motorcycle were run over by a cement truck in Chalong Phuket

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Traffic Accident Statistics for Thailand
http://www.thaiwebsites.com/caraccidents.asp
Interesting is the number of deaths when categorized by type of road user. The amount of drivers (and passengers) killed on motorcycles (including 3-wheelers, we assume tuktuks) is simply stagering. For a large part, these road users are from the low-income category of people, and one dares to suggest that this is part of the reason not more is done to improve road safety in Thailand. Not shown on this graph : There are about as much accidents in Bangkok as in the rest of Thailand combined. However, the number of deaths and injuries is much lower.

Songkran road toll after 3 days:
The Bangkok PostDuring the first three days of the state's latest road safety campaign, the death toll on the roads has risen from last year, with motorcycle accidents topping the bill, according to permanent secretary for interior affairs Kritsada Bunrat. Many occurred on minor roads in villages rather than on highways or other major roads, he said.
