Re: Looking for Work in Cambodia
The American War Office put out language learning tapes (yes, tapes) for natives of other countries to learn American decades ago. If you've heard the recordings, you'll know exactly which speakers have learned from them, or been taught by someone who learned from them. It almost sounds like they're poking fun at the language.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2017 11:23 pmhaha was at some restaurant in kampong speu last week, and the guy working there had such a yankee accent it was comicalStroppyChops wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2017 9:19 pmYou're welcome.John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2017 1:31 pmPlenty of ordinary Cambodians, including drivers, can speak reasonable American.

Re: Looking for Work in Cambodia
I remember when I was teaching ESL in Saigon and met a few former soldiers who learned their English from American GIs from the southern parts of the US-drawl and all. One of my favorite ones, " Ahm so por, I don't have pot to piss in."
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
