Fair enough, I expect it was the tone I read into BDS and JL discussing the fact that prices were about right, ergo the guy was wrong to complain. OTOH there were also people saying that the stiletto shit was OOO. Let's not mention FLB. Fourkinnel was the first post that really got to the point for me.Username Taken wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2017 8:42 pmI just re-read the entire thread but couldn't find anyone on this forum blaming the foreigner.juansweetpotato wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:17 pmI agree^ . People on these forums have a tendency/ love-lust to always blame the foreigner. I think they are right some of the time, but it is very irksome to hear it continually when the SEAsians are so renowned for price-hicking. An old guy gets a stiletto heel in the eye, and the vast majority of posters on sites like these say he's a cunt and deserved it.Fourkinnel wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2017 1:40 pm She fucked up for sure!. At the beginning the guy was still seated! It's not like he was walking away refusing to pay. Although they did later. But why would you pay after that treatment? You should be able to contest the price without crap like this. They often pad the drinks bill or get it wrong, I've had to question many bills, especially when with friends. sometimes I just pay if its not a crazy amount and tell them don't agree and won't be back!
80, 90 + baht in a bar like this was normal last year when i visited, but hard to tell here if it was the price of the drink or the total bill that was the problem.
Perhaps you were generalizing re forums in general, or something.
Let's also not even mention, what seems to have become, the Daily Mail cum Daily Express /Sun site.
And it must have taken me all of 5 days to realize that the Thais lose it at the drop of a hat. 7 odd years in SEA. 2 months of them in Thailand. Fly to BKK and out. I hope to be flying out of HCM from now on.

Yes, Prey Nokor goes down really well......
Seriously, seen Vietnamese lose it, especially around the zoo called Bui Vien, but nothing comes close to LOS. Mind you, if I was working in a place where you are dealing with low-life idiots very day of my life, I'd probably go postal on a regular basis, too.

The Viets aren't trying to compete with us. They are the Borg. The Thais say they are the greatest thing since the spoon, but they really have an inferiority complex. They are smart enough to know western civilization is way ahead of them and despise us for it. The Cambodians are similar, but a few more hundred years back in time.hanno wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2017 5:00 amYes, Prey Nokor goes down really well......

The old center is referred to as Saigon, but the new greater area is referred to as HCMC by what seems to be the majority of people living there . Of course, the communist party officials still call the whole place HCMC.
The historical Saigon is actually the Chinese market area going south along the river from District 1. Saigon = box trees which they chopped down to make that area. The old administration area downtown eventually was given the name Saigon. Although, there are several interpretations of the history.

This is a bar, not a 7/11...
-The attacker told police that the couple had refused to pay the full bill at the bar, claiming that they could get the drinks cheaper in 7 eleven. This caused the bar girl to lose her temper and start attacking the couple.
The victim, Mr. David Lodge turned up at the Pattaya police station at around 1:30am with a nasty looking black eye and a cut to his forehead. After making his complaint, police made their way down to Patsy beer bar on Soi 8. A Miss Rungnapa Pleumjai, 43, from Udon, was their to greet the officers and answer any questions they had for her.
She said that a group of foreigners had come drinking in the bar. But after the bill was added up a man refused to pay all of it because the bar was selling at a price higher than a convenience store.
She said she calmly explained to the tourist that this was, in fact, a beer bar and not a convenience store, and the prices were obviously going to be higher, the same as any other country. The customers still refused to pay full price, and Miss Pleumjai admitted that she lost her temper and proceeded to attack the customers.
She was taken down to the police station where video footage of the attack was looked at as further evidence, and police concluded that the bar girl would be charged.
She was charged with assault and causing serious bodily harm.

Yep, that's called Cholon on the map now. Very interesting history of how the northern Viet invaders took over Saigon and the Mekong Delta.
Yes, of course some of the capitalist inhabitants - especially the Catholics - call the whole place Saigon. It's a very split society, especially in HCM. Bit like Cambodia in that respect I would say.

Obviously a bar girl of the world. Lol. She only did it because she knew that foreigners wouldn't beat the shit of her like Thai men would. I have no sympathy for her.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2017 10:48 am
