UPDATE: Mr Wayne Schneider, a thirty-seven-year old Australian fitness club owner and Hell’s Angel gang member, was abducted from his home by masked men in June. His body was discovered soon afterwards in the Khao Chee Chan area.

Pattaya police arrested twenty-six Australian Mr Antonio Bacnato, who was a close friend of the victim, and he was charged with assault and abduction.

On September 8, journalists reported that a large number of Hell’s Angels had descended on Pattaya Provincial Court for the trial.

A gang spokesman, Mr Taksin Monthontaksin said that they were only there to follow the case and to hope that justice is done.

The Hell’s Angels have said they will accept the decision of the court, whatever that was.

The next hearing will take place on September 20 and the gang have said that the victim’s family can be expected to attend.

Pattaya Hells Angels murder trial
September 28, 2016
Image
A Thai provincial court is expected to hand down its verdict in November against an Australian man accused of the murder of an Australian motorbike gang leader in Pattaya, Thailand last year, court officials say.

Antonio Bagnato, 26, has been facing court on charges of leading a gang of five foreigners to kill Hells Angels member Wayne Rodney Schneider, 37, in a dispute over money linked to drug trafficking.

Bagnato was arrested in a hotel in Phnom Penh after fleeing soon after his alleged involvement in the murder. Reports say Bagnato could face the death penalty...

Schneider, a senior member of the Hells Angels, was known to authorities for overseeing a drug trafficking network that extended to Europe and Asia and was worth millions of dollars. Bagnato was a former business associate of Schneider in Australia...

Wayne Schneider Murder Trial: Accused Deny All Charges
Published on 18th November 2016 by Stickboy BKK

The two suspects in the Wayne Schneider murder trial were identified and placed at the scene of the murder by DNA evidence and two eyewitnesses, despite both accused denying any involvement in the killing of the Australian biker.

Almost a year after his arrest on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering his friend, Antonio Bagnato, 27, took to the stand yesterday at Pattaya Provincial Court to answer charges of murder, deprivation of liberty and concealing a corpse.

Bagnato told the court he had dinner at the home of the deceased before leaving at around 11.30pm with a Thai woman. He claims the pair went to Marine Disco on Walking Street before returning to the woman’s condo.

In his version of events to the court he wakened at midday to several missed calls from a mutual friend who informed him of the kidnapping. Bagnato left for Bangkok to meet his wife and young daughter.

He then fled Thailand after his wife was arrested when investigators discovered she had rented the vehicle used to transport Schneider’s dead body from his home to the remote spot in Sattahip district where he had been buried.

He was arrested several days later in Phnom Penh by Cambodian authorities at hotel on 82nd Street, and extradited back to Thailand.

No evidence to back up his alibi was presented to the court by Bagnato’s defence team.

On Friday, co-accused Tyler Gerard, 22, who was captured trying to flee Thailand into Cambodia three days after the murder, took to the stand.

He claimed in court he didn’t know what he was doing when he signed a confession outlining the role he played in the murder, despite several translators being present when he did so.
The court heard his DNA was found at the scene and on the victim...

Court sentences Australian to death for Hells Angels murder

PATTAYA - The court on Tuesday sentenced an Australian man to death for murdering a Hells Angels gang member in 2015, a lawyer at the trial said.

Australian Antonio Bagnato, 28, and US national Tyler Gerard, 22, were arrested after police found the battered body of Wayne Schneider in a shallow grave.

Bagnato was sentenced to death by a court in the resort city of Pattaya for detaining, assaulting and then killing the victim, Gerard's lawyer told Reuters.

Gerard was jailed for two years as an accomplice to the crime, said the lawyer, Phipat Chantakul.
Gerard's sentence was reduced from an original three years because he had cooperated with the investigation, his lawyer said.

AP quoted Thai police as saying Bagnato murdered Schneider because of a dispute over their drug trafficking which was said to stretch from Europe to Asia and net millions of dollars...

The other three suspects still at large are an American and two Australians.

Bagnato to appeal
Australian Antonio Bagnato, 28, was convicted by a court in Pattaya on Tuesday and handed down a death sentence, a punishment that remains on the statute books in Thailand but is rarely carried out.
American national Tyler Gerard, 22, was convicted of being involved in the kidnap and given a reduced two-year sentence for cooperating with authorities.
Australia, which opposes the death penalty, said Bagnato now plans to appeal.

Schneider's death once more highlighted the foreign criminal elements that flock to Pattaya, a beachside resort with a pulsating red light district and no shortage or grizzly crimes. Australian biker gangs and underworld figures have long had a presence in the city.
Schneider was once on an Australian "most wanted" list for the shooting of a bouncer in the knee outside a Sydney nightclub.Bagnato was also a suspect in a 2014 Sydney murder. Both moved to Thailand and chose to live in Pattaya, seemingly unmolested by local law enforcement.

There is a shrine to Schneider at a bar in Pattaya run by the local Hells Angels chapter, ABC reported.

Three men involved in the kidnapping remain uncaptured.

Some more bikers have been arrested in Pattaya in relation to this murder case.
Three Hells Angels members arrested in Thailand in connection with 2015 murder

Three Australian members of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang have been arrested and charged with multiple offences in Thailand, with local authorities alleging their involvement "in the murder and secret burial of an Australian two years ago."

The men, who are yet to be identified, were arrested alongside a Canadian national on Wednesday, in the Thai tourist district of Pattaya. All four men are aged between 32 and 42.

It remains unclear what charges have been laid, however it is said they are related to their alleged involvement in "extortion, money laundering, illicit drugs and human trafficking."

Acting deputy commissioner of tourist police Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, told local media the men "were disguised as tourists and threatened national security."

He also alleged they were "the same group of people involved in the murder and secret burial of an Australian two years ago," referring to the violent killing and burial of alleged Hells Angels drug kingpin Wayne Schneider in 2015.

Schneider's naked and mutilated body was found in a grave a short drive from the Pattaya villa where he was abducted by five men, four of whom wore balaclavas.

The Thai arrests come as NSW Deputy State Coroner Teresa O'Sullivan handed down her findings into Schneider's death, finding the alleged drug kingpin died by homicide.

According to the Bangkok Post, local police in Pattaya raided five luxury houses in Tambon Nong Prue of Bang Lamung district on Wednesday, seizing guns, ammunition, knives and two luxury vehicles.

All four men who were arrested underwent urine testing, with police finding traces of illegal drugs in two of the samples.

"These people entered Thailand, married Thai women, were without regular jobs, but had luxury houses and cars and spent lavishly," Pol Maj Gen Surachet said.

It is understood police had planned to arrest a total of eight foreign nationals on Wednesday, however one has since fled the country, while the remaining three are believed to be hiding in Bangkok.

The permits and visas of all eight people have been revoked.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the Australian Embassy in Bangkok was "seeking to confirm the arrests of three Australians with local authorities and to offer them consular assistance in accordance with the Consular Services Charter."
