Two fortune tellers – a husband and wife – went on trial yesterday accused of cheating a farmer out of $14,000.

Kong Samath, 56, and his wife Chhay Sophon, 55, are accused of preying on farmer Suleiman Ibrahim, 32, who they had a trusting relationship with and called their “young god brother.”

Che Song, the deputy prosecutor at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said that in December 2015, Mr. Ibrahim met the accused at their house in Stung Treng province and asked them to make predictions about his farming businesses.

Mr. Ibrahim said they told him that if he wanted success he should sell his tractor and give them the money for safe keeping.
He sold the tractor for $14,000 and gave them the money.

He asked for the money back last year when he needed it for his farm, but they said they did not have it.
They promised to return the money repeatedly. But he lost touch with them when they disappeared from their house and went to live in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Ibrahim then lodged a complaint with police to get his money back...

Ibrahim, whom we assume to be a Muslim, has NO BUSINESS AT ALL with soothsayers, fortunetellers, necromancers,
sorcerers and so on - the simplest village mullah could have told him that!
