Go Fund me - Koh Samui hostel owner in distress.

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Locked Up Abroad! Help Repay Bribes – Samui resident asks for help!

A resident of Koh Samui recently found herself locked up in jail after papers she thought were legal and correct and allowed her to run a backpacker resort were correct. However they were not. Loren has shared her story on a Go Fund Me page – here is what it says.

Hi, I’m Loren, as most of you probably know. I’m a traveler and try to be open and honest always, and as a result I have the most incredible luck. I always say it’s not always good luck, but always incredible!

This week my incredible luck was incredibly bad...

What a cool, groovy and vilely corrupt screwy country!

And such a pity that she did not check the crooked
"lawyer's" real status in the first place!

old saying "let the buyer beware"

she tried to get by on the cheap rather than doing it legal, everyone here that does business knows there is the quick cheap easy way to do things but ...it has its risks
to bad many take that option

People need to understand that this is the way of the future for "farang' in Thailand.

Andrew Drummond did a recent write-up on the subject:

Another interesting article:

Anyway, the end is nigh

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

FYI Drumond is Banned in Thailand so we need look here;

https://translate.google.com/translate? ... &sandbox=1

Thailand is bending over ( as the Cambodians are) to the Chinese now; ( and looks like the Philippines will be as well)
recently wouldn't allow the HK activist Joshua Wong in the other day

Funny how during WW2 they sided with he japs, this time they might be picking the winners thou

We live in interesting times
I think the interesting this is this:

-the Chinese think it's to their benefit if they 'squire' these local Asian nations. (I didn't say smaller!)
-the Chinese are new at this...(prolly?)
-We (that's the plural we of 'us' westernish types) have been doing it for a loooooooong time. just sayin'
-'we know' some times is ain't so much fun. keeping countries that sit side by each and don't always get along, well keeping them in a state of 'along' is tough.

-good luck on the Chinese. maybe it will even things out a bit and reduce the freaking cost!!!!

just sayin' as it were.

cheers
