Who was going to snort all this coke?

There is far more to this tale than meets the eye!

kind of what I was thinking. certainly prices would be higher in those places than PP.

Police Admit Drug Mule Attracted by Lax Security
by Phan Soumy | September 27, 2016

A South African man caught at Phnom Penh International Airport with a stomach full of cocaine capsules tried to move the drugs through Cambodia because police here are poor at detecting drug mules, an anti-drug department official admitted on Monday.

Jacobus Dawie Botha, who was detained on Friday morning, had left Brazil with the drugs and boarded transit flights in Dubai and then Bangkok, officials said. He was stopped after Cambodian officials received a tip from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration...

Even though the cocaine was likely bound for Thailand, drug mules prefer not to enter that country through the airport because of its sophisticated detection equipment, instead choosing to transfer to Phnom Penh and then take the drugs overland, Mr. Song said.

Alleged Mule Charged in Cocaine Case
by Phan Soumy | September 30, 2016 |

Excerpt:
Authorities recovered 587 grams of cocaine from 42 plastic pellets Mr. Botha had swallowed, Sary Botsatya, a bureau chief at the Interior Ministry’s anti-drug department, said on Thursday.

Mr. Botha became constipated and ill after swallowing the pellets and was hospitalized overnight on Sunday, Mr. Botsatya said.

The drug mule’s hospitalization prevented police from keeping the case secret, so no other arrests were made despite a weeklong investigation, Mr. Botsatya said.

Police believe the drugs were likely destined for Thailand via an overland route.

The trafficking charge carries a penalty of up to life in prison and a fine of up to 100 million riel, or about $25,000.

As usual, no further arrests were made:

South African Suspect Admits to Trafficking Half-Kilo of Cocaine
April 11, 2017
A South African admitted to charges of trafficking more than half a kilogram of cocaine into Cambodia last year after arriving at the airport with a stomach full of drug capsules during a court hearing on Monday.

Presiding Judge Kim Rathnarin said the defendant, 30-year-old Jacobus Dawie Botha, was arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on September 23 and charged with possessing, transporting and dealing drugs under the Drug Law.

Under questioning, Mr. Dawie Botha said he had been imprisoned for five years in South Africa for previous drug crimes, and that last year was his first attempt to bring drugs into Cambodia after having successfully trafficked them into his home country from Pakistan.

A woman he named only as “Yoko” managed the operation and organized for the cocaine to be transported from Brazil through Dubai before heading to Cambodia through Bangkok, he said. He was then supposed to hand over the haul to a Nigerian man, whom he said he did not know, at a guesthouse in Meanchey district’s Stung Meanchey commune.

Mr. Dawie Botha said he had been promised $7,000 if he was successful...

Life in prison! Damn, that'll teach him.

"PHNOM PENH, May 2 (Xinhua) -- A Cambodian court on Tuesday convicted a South African man of cross-border drug trafficking and sentenced him to life in prison, according to a verdict.

Jacobus Dawie Botha, 30, was arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on Sept. 23, 2016 for trafficking 587 gm of cocaine into Cambodia. The man swallowed drugs (hiding drugs in his stomach) and travelled on a flight from Brazil via Dubai and Bangkok to Cambodia.
