“Make him Speak by Tomorrow" - Amnesty international releases report on torture in Thailand.
THAILAND: "Make Him Speak By Tomorrow": Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Thailand
By Amnesty International, 28 September 2016, Index number: ASA 39/4747/2016
In Thailand, senior government officials have declared their commitment to ending the use of torture. Nevertheless, Amnesty International has found, through a two year investigation, that torture remains shockingly common. Legislators are considering a new law that, if passed, would explicitly criminalise torture and further protect against torture and other forms of ill-treatment. Adopting and implementing an anti-torture law that fully complies with the UN Convention against Torture are essential steps that Thailand must take to end these grave violations. “Make him Speak by Tomorrow" describes the findings of a two year investigation by Amnesty International into the use of torture and other ill treatment by Thai authorities...

Perhaps this is one area (and probably not the only one) in which Cambodia
is the more civilised of the two countries!
The NGOs deserve the thanks of many.

Re: “Make him Speak by Tomorrow" - Amnesty international releases report on torture in Thailand.
In a truly appropriate response to Amnesty International's public launch of their report on torture, "Make him speak by tomorrow", Thai authorities have said that any of the report's authors who spoke on the subject would be arrested and prosecuted.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/ ... ce-warningAmnesty International has cancelled the public launch of a report on torture in Thailand after police in Bangkok warned the rights group that its representatives might be arrested and prosecuted for visa violations.
The report accuses Thai soldiers and police of torture, including of suspected insurgents, government opponents, alleged drug users and members of ethnic minorities.
The London-based advocacy group had flown in members of its UK team for the event, which was to be held at a hotel in central Bangkok and attended by diplomats, journalists and local human rights activists. Members of Thailand’s police special branch and the department of employment had also turned up.
Amnesty said it had been in close contact with the government in the weeks before the launch but it was informed on Wednesday that its foreign staff – the authors of the report – had the wrong visas.
An hour after the press conference was due to start, Nadthasiri Bergman, a Thai legal adviser to Amnesty, said the authorities “insist that they are not closing the event down, but they qualify that if representatives of Amnesty International speak there will be consequences and they will subject to arrest and prosecuted under Thai labour law”.

It does explain how they seem to get so many to 'admit/confess too' doing the deeds so soon after they arrest them.
I'd always assumed it was just plain good 'ol police work......
cheers

yep Thailand uses torture to find out information about Militants,
who do u think trained them? Yep the cia who operated a black house in the country.
try a report on that an see what happens.
Press freedom here has severely been clamped down since the army took over.
