phnom penh blackout questions, area with the least power interruption

Post by jmap »

Hello, we are now also considering pp as an area for our base. how often are the power cuts in pp? are they frequent? how long do they usually last?

When do they usually occur? what months?

Also, what areas (to live) have the least or shortest power interruption?

Thanks once again.

In the past few months in BKK1 I've only had a few: a couple at five seconds, and maybe a couple that were five minutes.

We're in Tuolkork in the same area with the EDC pay station. Power goes down only every one or two months, and then usually only a few minutes.

(Without power, EDC can't take any payments; I assume that's why our area is prioritized.)

It's quite random. Often power cuts depend on road works when the electric cables are cut and the poles moved that can get very annoying. Normal power cuts anywhere in pp now are usually just a few minutes a couple of times a month, voltage fluctuations are a bit more annoying if you plan to use delicate equipment and more common than power outages. If you need an in line UPS unit for your work drop me a pm.
