Cambodia on the Global Competitive Index
Interesting reading, but unsurprisingly Cambodia does not score strongly. From 2013 :

True. But the GDP growth over 18 yrs. is nothing short of phenomenal. Seeing as how the powers that be want to suppress the sheeple.

For 90% of the country that equates to 7% of fuck all. IN fact, the majority have been in the negative for quite some years now.Username Taken wrote:“The ADB estimates Cambodia's GDP growth will be 7% this year, ..."Luigi wrote:True. Low score for Cambodia in the latest World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, released yesterday.
A failing grade for competitiveness

Kali Kotoski
Cambodia now takes the 89th spot in global competitiveness, up one position from last year, according to the annual report, which maps out the major factors in driving productivity across 138 nations. The marginal improvement still leaves the Kingdom as the second-worst country in ASEAN in terms of competitiveness, narrowly beating out Laos, ranked 93rd. Myanmar was excluded from this year’s report after ranking 131st last year...

The property bubble is going to burst all over the place. I love Cambodia and Phnom Penh but I've studied economics and I know when supply exceeds demand in property then....

Re: Cambodia on the Global Competitive Index
SHALL WE LIST THE FACTS?
HERE:
1. In PP there is a grotesque huge property bubble. It may burst or it may gently deflate.
Wait and see.
2. There is enormous energy in the provinces, even in the supposedly-poorest provinces.
Everywhere you look, there are piles of sand and a truckload of bricks awaiting
building work. In some places, you can't get a reputable builder's services for love
or money because they all have full order books.
3. It is claimed that 700,000 people (roughly 5% of the population) are genuinely
affected by, and suffering from, land and home insecurity. This is dreadful for them,
but most of the other 95% are either getting richer or - at worst - are no poorer.
4. The last thing this country needs is political upheaval and instability. Take this
from one who has actually experienced the thrills and excitement of running away
from a civil war.
5. Cambodia today is rather like post-1950s Spain under Francisco Franco - a rather
horrid government and growing prosperity simultaneously.
