The Comedy Club Cambodia #34

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Boom! We’re back. Hello. Let’s do this.
The Comedy Club Cambodia has another hilarious national tour lined up for this sweatiest of months, with a Phnom Penh stop at Show Box set for Friday May 27!
We’re very excited to welcome the sublime Shanghai-based US comic Turner Sparks to our shores to headline the gig.
Fellow American stand up Devin Monaghan will be providing support along with other stalwarts of the local comedy scene.
The night is being brought to you by the region’s best cider makers Bruntys, as well as premier bus company Giant Ibis, the exquisite House Boutique hotel and the scrumptious sandwiches of Buffalo Sister.
Tickets are once again so very, very cheap at $5, and tipoff is the usual Cambodian equivalent of 8:30pm.

Stuff on Sparks
Born in Northern California, award-winning comedian Turner Sparks started his career in 2009 in Suzhou, China, by founding the country’s first comedy club, Stand Up China.
Now a well-traveled performer and headliner across the region, Sparks has made his mark with his razor sharp punchlines, quick wit and cross-cultural appeal.
He has also begun to venture into online audio with a recent appearance on iTunes Top 100 podcast ‘Ari Shaffir’s Skeptic Tank’, ‘The Jimmy Shubert Podcast’ and Kung Fu Komedy’s ‘Stuck in the Middle’ podcast.
Sparks took runners-up spot at the 2015 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and ‘Best of the Fest’ at the 2014 Akumal (Mexico) Comedy Festival presented by Stand Up Records.

“An established stand-up and a rising talent” Michael H. Weber, screenwriter
“Absolutely hysterical comedy” This is China! blog
“Turner Sparks lights up the crowd” US-China Today
“Experience his feel good brand of comedy” Mirth + More magazine

Down low on Devin
Devin Monaghan is an American comedian and published author based out of Saigon.
After an awkward childhood, getting sunburnt by moonlight, Devin has performed in venues stretching from the US to Vietnam to Cambodia, in that order.
He currently has no arrest warrants, and has been lauded for his ability to explain his jokes to audiences of any nationality.
Devin is single, but this is neither the time nor the place.
