Lol RV, now don't get all preachy about those bad people who go off topic. I just had to read the whole thread through to see what your intention was.ruralvoice wrote:Duncan wrote" And another good thing about Jamie is he does not tell people to kiss my asp."
I'll try not to hold it against him.
What makes me want to cry in Cambodia are the things that can't be fixed, or things that it will be too late to fix. The Chut Wutty video made me cry - not just because they killed a brave man, but because, despite the fact that they don't stand a chance, there are still good simple people who continue their struggle to protect the forests from illegal logging. They will continue until they are neutralized or the forest is gone. This is not something that will be fixed by a change of govt IMO; the system is too entrenched.
I don't see any signs of hope for saving the Cambodian forests, and this will be an irreplaceable loss for the people. Filling in the lakes and wetlands, building ill-thought out dams on the rivers, are other ways the environment is being damaged irreversibly. Some things cannot be undone. Why would I cry if there was some hope for the future ?

OK, you can stop crying, the problem has been solved.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Duncan that is of course pre-electoral crap. I've no doubt that with your sensibilities and intellect you are an ardent CPP supporter. But whenever you post it has an ironic effect on me. I laugh so hard I cry

It is well-known that Cambodians often laugh instead of crying, but one day people are going to say "enough".
http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/24388/ ... -drags-on/...We have been involved in a land dispute with the company since 2006, when it started to bulldoze our homes and farms,” she said. Residents continued to farm patches of farmland until 2014, when a wall was erected around it.
Dozens of residents and KDC employees were injured in a clash during the wall’s construction.
“Initially, there were 108 families affected by the dispute who stood up to the company. However, the majority backed down and accepted compensation of 2 million riel [$500 dollars] to 6 million riel [$1,500 dollars] because of fear, intimidation and illiteracy,” Ms. Sophy said.
Over the course of the dispute, 10 residents were at one point imprisoned – all have since been released under court supervision.
A resident in his 60s told Khmer Times on condition of anonymity that the land he said KDC seized was the only land he owned and that he was now nearly starving...
