Thais Caught in Battambang with $7,000,000 in Fake US Bills

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

United States currency paper is composed of 75% cotton and 25% linen.
Koreans came out with the super bills back in the 90's

they were very good an i was stuck with more than one or 2
Iran was making superb ones too on the same printing presses the US used (they sold 'em to the Shah). 60 Minutes did a special on both of them. They took the 'super bills' to bank counterfeit experts and 3/5 couldn't tell real from fake.

I'm surprised the US hadn't moved to polymer notes like Australia's yet - almost impossible to counterfeit.

Aren't the new US$100's the same as Oz notes?

Us bills survive the wash as they are "rag" not pure paper. Yes, America should follow the Oz lead and go to plastic. It was pointed out to me by my neighbor who is from Oz, that an Oz resident invented the plastic money.

Sorry but plastic bills feel awful. You can't count them without wondering if two are stuck together. In fact, this happened to me several times during my recent visit back home in Canada. You have to be careful.

Also, they have already been counterfeited in Canada. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/police-war ... -1.1284115

But plastic notes are said to have slashed counterfeits.

Apparently (as in, I heard this but don't have a citation) Oz is now advising other countries on switching to polymer notes.

Of course they are because then they'll tender for the contract to mint the currency as they do for a number of nations.

And what's wrong with that? The days of riding on the sheep's back are over. Australia is now a big exporter of technology.
