Man Blows Up a Canadia Bank ATM, Gets Away But Without The Money
Phnom Penh, Cambodia: An attempt was made to blow up a Canadia ATM, presumably to steal the money.
The police are investigating the explosion of a Canadia Bank's ATM, which is located in front of the National Children's Hospital in Teuk Laok 1 Commune, Toul Kok district on the night of 17 March 2017.
The police suspect an unidentified man was involved in the bombing of the ATM after checking the security camera in the morning of March 18, 2017.
Hun Sothy, who is a local police officer, has reported that they have not found a motive, other than to take the money from the ATM, but they are still reviewing the CCTV footage.
The explosion damaged the ATM machine, but not the money inside, and Canadia Bank has retrieved all th money.
There is an ongoing investigation in this case.

Why would he not just threaten to remove all the money from the machines,, then there would be no reason to blow them up . [ hey , this is Cambodia ]

They are not actually "unguarded", just not guarded very well.Rama wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2017 12:57 pm http://www.kasetkhmer.com/article/2539

After Bomb, Governor Wants ATMs Moved, More Security
March 22, 2017
After a makeshift explosive shattered the glass of a Canadia Bank ATM on Russian Boulevard in Phnom Penh on Saturday night, municipal governor Pa Socheatvong on Tuesday said banks should increase security or move their cash machines out of public places.
City Hall spokesman Met Measpheakdey said that the bomber of the Canadia ATM, who remains at large, appeared to have targeted the machine specifically because it was in a fairly quiet spot. The explosion occurred at about midnight, but failed to damage the cash box.
A report posted to the National Police website on Sunday describes security footage showing a man approaching the ATM and attaching explosives to the money slot, along with a fuse that he then lit.
A security guard at a hospital next to the ATM told a reporter on Sunday that his colleague stationed there at the time of the explosion had fallen asleep. Mr. Measpheakdey said such security lapses needed to stop...
