A Kratie health centre official was arrested after he went beserk with jealousy when he saw his much-younger mistress on a motorbike with another man, rammed them with his ambulance, beat them both, and then abducted his mistress and stole her jewelry.
Apparently the official is accustomed to borrowing the health centre ambulance for his personal use, and he is well-known locally for his rude manners. It is not mentioned what his wife thinks about her husband's sudden notoriety.

The director of a commune-run health center in Kratie province has been arrested for allegedly running his girlfriend off the road in an ambulance, then beating and robbing her, police said on Wednesday.

Sim Chanveasna, 47, director of the O’Krieng commune health center in Sambor district, was arrested at the facility on Tuesday after his 22-year-old mistress of seven years filed a complaint alleging a violent chain of events that occurred last week, district police chief Bun Chhoeun said.
The woman told police that she had been riding through the commune on the back of another man’s motorbike at about 10 p.m. on January 24 when Mr. Chanveasna began to pursue the pair while driving the center’s empty ambulance, Mr. Chhoeun said.

He then rammed the ambulance into the side of the motorbike, causing the other man to crash and leaving the pair with minor injuries to their arms and legs, he said.

Mr. Chhoeun said the suspect beat the victims at the scene of the crash, then proceeded to drag his mistress into the ambulance and steal her jewelry while driving her home, instructing her not to file a complaint...

A 47-year-old health official was arrested in Kratie province’s Sambo district yesterday over accusations of robbery and illegal weapons possession.

Deputy district police chief Captain Noy Sithach said the arrest was carried out in accordance with an arrest warrant issued by the provincial court.

“We arrested Sem Chanveasna, 47, who was the health center director in Ou Kreang commune, while he was working at his office,” he said, adding that police seized a pistol and an assault rifle belonging to Mr. Chanveasna.

The arrest came days after a woman, who claimed to be the mistress of Mr. Chanveasna, filed a complaint with the court, saying Mr. Chanveasna had tried to cause trouble and steal her jewelry.

Police said Moch Sreyda, 22, claimed she had been having an affair with Mr. Chanveasna for years.

He added that four months ago, Ms. Sreyda had asked Mr. Chanveasna to end their affair, but he became angry and threatened to harm her family if she dared to do so.

The director of a commune-run health center in Kratie province accused of running his mistress off the road in an ambulance, then beating and robbing her, has been released by court officials who said they could find no evidence of the alleged crimes.

Sim Chanveasna, 47, director of the O’Krieng commune health center in Sambor district, was arrested last Monday after his 22-year-old mistress of seven years filed a complaint alleging the violent chain of events, which she said occurred earlier in the month.

Kratie Provincial Court spokesman Hak Han on Sunday said that Mr. Chanveasna was released on Friday after court officials were unable to prove accusations that he was in possession of two firearms or that he had committed a crime.

“We questioned the suspect and spent a day investigating at his house, but we could not find any evidence to charge the suspect. That is why we released him,” he said.
