CALTEX Gas Stations have been Closed for a week?

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I think this is the second, or maybe 3rd time they've said it's over.... It was supposed to be over Tuesday or Wednesday, I thoughtj.... Chevron has stepped in. Thank God the moral Americans are taking care of shit finally!!!
Employees of Caltex petrol stations in Phnom Penh are returning to work today after management offered to raise salaries by $20 a month and not withhold pay for time missed during the strike, which started earlier this month.

The agreement, effective June 1, was reached yesterday in a meeting with representatives of employees, Caltex parent company Chevron and the Ministry of Labour.

“Chevron (Cambodia) Limited has made an offer to our employees, which was accepted, bringing an end to the industrial dispute involving our service station staff,” spokeswoman Than Chanlek said in an emailed statement. An employee and a union leader confirmed the deal.

Workers at 17 Phnom Penh branches walked off the job on May 12, demanding monthly salaries of at least $160, an annual bonus and an annual staff party. The deal does not mean all workers will make $160. Chevron did not agree to an annual staff party or the annual bonus.

Pretty big demands... You work at a gas station guys, not an engineering company. 160$ is ridiculous (though it probably won't be in 5 years) for a guy who pumps gas. Then again, got to aim high to get a decent settlement. I wonder what they settled on exactly, especially for pump attendants. Hopefully something fair.
