American Michael Soto arrested for drug possession, SHV

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

"Who would have thought it?"

Well not me. In fact I still don't. However next time I get stopped I'll drop your name and demand they read me my Miranda rights. In Cambodian of course.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Why does he have so many passport sized photos while making drug runs?
Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it

Out of curiousity; have you ever been stopped and searched in Cambodia?

Nope. But then I make sure I have two side mirrors and a helmet for protective coloration. It's a local helmet and only protects me from the cops; it would be useless in an accident. I also drive a 20-year-old Honda Cub, a moto status hungry cops don't want to be seen near much less on. I also don't drive in SR,PP, or Shitsville. So in 15+ years I have been stopped twice but never searched.

Okay, fair enough.

I usually obey the road rules too. I occasionally get stopped, often while in the car on road to pp from Preah Vihear. On the bike I may as well be invisible.

Again, never searched, just a license check. The traffic police have no remit to search people. I would firmly and calmly refuse any attempt at such a search.
