This weekend at Chivas!

Discussions about restaurants, cafes, coffee shops or bars in Cambodia. Feel free to write any reviews you have, whether its the best burger you've had in Phnom Penh or the worse pizza in Kampot, we want to read it! Discussions about Khmer dishes are also in here, or you can leave your own. If you own a restaurant, feel free to let the expat community know about it here so that we can come check it out. Found a favorite cafe or have a place we should avoid? Tell us about it. Asian recipes & questions are always welcome.

That and Fritos corn chips, Tim's Cascade potato chips, real Mexican food, Cruzen Black-strap Rum, real horseradish, and Ju-Ju fruit candy. Oh Well! You have to give up something to live in paradise.
Like eating real food is a problem ? :voilent4:
(Just saying, I have never heard of " Clamato juice" it sounds :bad: Please tell us that it's not a mix of clam and tomato juice. )

that's exactly what it is. strange as it seems, you can buy 'clam juice' by the bottle as well.

(at least in the US)

personally I think it's disgusting.

Insert joke here....

cheers

bolueeleh wrote:yesterday night went to chivas for the lamb shank, lamb was moist and tender but 1 hr more in the stew would be better, sauce was flavourful but a bit watery, should reduce it a little, mash potatoes were home made and creamy, the main let down was the veg, the cook use frozen mix veg from the pack, which was a huge disappointment as such a good dish deserves a better veg.

portion was generous and valued for money, service was quick and prompt, didnt expect much delay as i ordered the special of the day.

Cheers :beer3:

Mate, thanks for your review. I talked to Robert about it and he agrees with you. The shanks he used on Saturday were so much bigger than what we normally use ( 500g as compared to 350g. The 500g are now what we will be using every month btw!) that he didn't braise them quite long enough. He reckons an extra 1/2 hour will do it and I agree. 1 hour extra and I think you would lose that moistness. Also in agreement 100% with the frozen veggies. What a let down. It won't happen next month I guarantee.
My main complaint with them was they sold out by 8pm (25 portions) so I didn't bloody get to have them myself! So preorders recommended next month fella's so you aren't disappointed!
Very happy to say that the service, both upstairs and downstairs now is first class. After reading the initial post about Chivas, the main thing I took on board was how the service had gone down hill. That is what I have concentrated my efforts on. We have almost the same staff, but now they are happy, motivated and proud to be working here. The problem is rarely with the staff btw. It is almost always with management. That problem is now solved!
Cheers, hope to see you all soon,
Dave :beer2:
