Monkey Mark's Revisited

Discussions about restaurants, cafes, coffee shops or bars in Cambodia. Feel free to write any reviews you have, whether its the best burger you've had in Phnom Penh or the worse pizza in Kampot, we want to read it! Discussions about Khmer dishes are also in here, or you can leave your own. If you own a restaurant, feel free to let the expat community know about it here so that we can come check it out. Found a favorite cafe or have a place we should avoid? Tell us about it. Asian recipes & questions are always welcome.

Ray: Have you tried a steak at MM or just :stir:
I guess I shouldn't tell others I've found some actual good food(Steak) in the steak wasteland of Snookyville. I really would encourage other restaurants to try and raise the bar in steaks in Sihanoukville, and why before MM did they try and pass off second rate meat as quality steaks? (some from Thailand.)

I have talked to quite a few people in this town who claim to be Chef's from one country or another, but when pressed they didn't have the knowledge and/or background. (believe me I can tell a fake.) I would love to set down and talk food with another actual "Chef." BTW/My home kitchen has more equipment than most of the restaurants here. My home built Pizza oven gets almost 800F which is the bottom temp for a good pizza. I slice (commercial slicer) and freeze my own lunch meat from roasts, smoke my own ribs, and one of the things I do in Singapore is buy my Mexican food makings from Belmonte Latin Foods. (To my knowledge the only Mexican store in 5 countries.)

I wish some bar/restaurant would have a Chili-Off as I have then proper makings for killer Chili.

I seem to remember 3 chilli cook-offs and 1 Ribs competition over the last few years in Sihanoukville and the annual cook off at Lone Star PP. Perhaps you were too busy buying your ingredients and missed these opportunities to educate us poor mortals. Unless of course you did submit an entry and won but have not bothered to tell anyone. Just a thought.

We have heard that Dan Meats has good steak - everything else we've had from there has been great. We will test and report back.
