Barbarella's pizza is down a few rungs for me, but for $5 I won't complain. I could go for the Spanish wine though. There's a real dearth of decent wine in the stores right now. I may have to do a PP run this week.

Have you checked out "Celliers d'Asie" for the wine ?wackyjacky wrote:Barbarella's pizza is down a few rungs for me, but for $5 I won't complain. I could go for the Spanish wine though. There's a real dearth of decent wine in the stores right now. I may have to do a PP run this week.

Re: Cheap places to eat in Sihanoukville
Unless something new has opened lately, there is no good pizza in Snookyville. Olive & Olive comes the closes, but is still lacking. One pizza joint on the Golden Lyons Circle that was highly recommended and I tested, I got sick from the pizza (rank pepperoni) and I had to throw most of it away. The crust was terrible so no big loss tossing it.
Barbarella was tested and failed. I even went back a second time to make sure it was crap. He has all the right ingredients and the oven, but his staff is not supervised, they kill the dough, the sauce was tasteless, and it wasn't cooked long enough. (raw in the middle as in cooked at too low a temp) The first time I was there they had to go find the cook (20 min wait for just that and not a good sign)
Here's what a pizza should look like. Bubbly, chewy, the bottom of the crust crisp, the sauce zesty and a little bit of char on the top. Haven't seen this yet in Cambodia. (this pizza was in the oven less than 4 min at 850f)
If anyone knows of a good pizza in Snookyville please post it.

I didn't know they existed. Thanks a bunch AM - jeez a map and everything. On Karaoke St, Mediterraneo's pizza is def top 3 in SV. I'd eat there more if the atmosphere wasn't so awful. For a pure cheap play - Nana up on the hill is that in spades & their food is pretty good. It's hard to spend $4 there. Reamskey Pho on Ekareach (between downtown & the Hill) is pretty good & there's a lot more on the menu then Pho. They even do a decent hamburger. Futura on Tola (near Grand Kampuchea) does really nice pastas for $3-6. It's maybe my favorite Italian. Unfortunately he's got a 'For Sale' sign up. He's not the cheapest, but McGuinesses Cottage in Sihanoukville Sq is open again (Morris got sick) & everything on the menu is excellent $4 - 7.Anchor Moy wrote:Have you checked out "Celliers d'Asie" for the wine ?wackyjacky wrote:Barbarella's pizza is down a few rungs for me, but for $5 I won't complain. Ssilorman check out Mao's bar in SNV - at the end of occhheuteal beach road the pizza is truly divine
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Which end of the beach road? (There are two Occhheuteal beach roads. The long one downtown and the one at the very end of the beach out of town.) Near what for reference? On the beach/beach-side. North/South end?

I always liked that group of restaurants north of Orchidee, lots of good fish/pizza/Khmer food.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right?

Sailorman - Mao's shack is the 2nd last shack at the end of the Occheuteal beach rd. Run by a pom called Richie. Top bloke, great music and good cheap food.

Can anyone recommend an Indian restaurant other than Kamasutra and Taj Mahal? I already frequent those two and I'm curious if there are other good Indian places in town.
