8th annual chili cookoff at Lone Star

Post by Lonestar »

Hello all,

The 8th annual chili cookoff at Lone Star will be Sat. Sept. 3 at 2:00 pm at Lone Star.

To enter: Bring a full pot of chili before noon to Lone Star. We will reheat the chili and serve them in blind in a random order to our judges.

All entrants get to sample the other entries....and will receive a free Lone Star chili cookoff tee shirt. Chilis may be of any style.

1st place: 100.00 bar tab.
2nd place: 50.00 bar tab.

People's choice winner: A free keg of beer to enjoy with your friends at Lone Star at a time of your choosing.

To judge: Send me a pm and explain why you would make a great judge. We will put together a panel of local chefs, restaurant owners, and any others who appear well qaulified.

To taste the chilis: Show up, pay ten bucks.....and you get to sample all of the entries, and will get a ballot to judge for the People's Choice
award.

Bring a big appetite....as sampling a dozen or so chilis can be pretty filling.

If anyone is available to play some music....please PM me.

Hope to see you there!

LoL.

I'll be there! It's a lot of fun and a lot of chili.

I assume the charges go more towards hosting the event overall, as it's usually a pretty big turnout, and if they didn't charge something, they'd have every balloon chaser in the city showing up.

I hope you haven't been sleeping with any of the waitresses at Lonestar GM, we don't need 2 incidents in one week.

And they're giving away $150 in prices, plus a keg, and I would doubt he sells much food that day, as everyone is scarfing down chili, so $10 seems more than fair.

I plan to be a People's Choice judge, so if anyone wants to pay me off, PM me.

Tony from Charlie Harper's won a few years ago, and I saw him the next day and he hands me a KEY.

Tells me he won a t-shirt, but left it in the Pontoon lockers, LoL, and wanted me to pick it next time I was there.

Hand delivered to Sihanoukville. :good:

Ok, skipped this year, LoL.

Showed up with Samouth and had the pleasure of running into Jah Steu, Loud John, Rain Dog, and even the beloved Detroit Muscle.

Ended up being only 7 entries, and rumor had it that only 2 or 3 were worth trying.

Was kind of hungry (yes, for breakfast) so took off without trying any.

Will be interesting to hear the results...
