The Comedy Club Cambodia #43

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The Comedy Club Cambodia kicks off the Year of the Cock with a balls-out funny show for you at 3 Mangos on Friday 17th February, featuring the awesome Asian-inspired American act William Childress, Estonian comedy cage fighter Ari Matti Mustonen, and special guests from the Phnom Penh “circuit”.
Tickets are priced at just $7, in no small part due to our fantastic sponsors – 3 Mangos guesthouse, Bruntys cider, Giant Ibis buses and Buffalo Sister restaurant.
Show time is slated for 8:30pm. Get in early for a good seat.

William Childress
Raised in the American south, William began his stand up career in 2011 in Shanghai as one of the earliest members of Kung Fu Komedy and helped open mainland China’s first standup comedy room. Later moving to Myanmar, William founded the first English-language standup group in that country, Standup Yangon, which he still runs from afar.
Having headlined all over Asia, Childress has twice been a finalist of the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition, finishing 2nd Runner Up in his last go-round in 2014.
In 2015, Childress took the long way back home, stopping off at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he put on a successful full-run solo show with The Funniest Man in Burma. Now doing standup in his native Atlanta, Georgia, William can be seen throughout the US.
Childress is thrilled to be getting the hell out of America for a while and telling tales of sex, drugs, and Southeast Asia. Childress also wrote this entire embarrassing blurb in the third person.
“Wicked, cutting, brilliantly funny stand-up” – SmartShanghai.com
“Shady and always laugh-out-loud hilarious” – Foxy Billionaire Yacht Party

Ari Matti Mustonen
A rising star in both his homeland of Estonia and internationally, Ari has enough on stage energy to power a small town and punchlines to match. He was born in Norway, has the most Finnish sounding name ever (you do know what Finnish names sound like right?) and grew up in Estonia. Ari has an effortless charm (ok it takes some effort) while being unafraid to put forward his point of view.
In his five-year career in stand up, Ari has spend two of those on the road in Australia, becoming a regular in Melbourne and around the country. Throughout Asia he has performed at the Bangkok Comedy Club, Bangkok Hilarious, Crackhouse Kuala Lumpur, LOL Comedy, and Takeout Comedy among others. He has opened for Chris Franklin, Al De Bene, and Lawrence Mooney.
Ari’s other passion is MMA, having previously being a fighter himself and he is currently a fitness instructor. He has become a leading figure in the local MMA community in Estonia and has commentated on numerous international pay per view fights.
“Great comedy wit. Internationally appealing” – Chris Franklin
