Don't get me started on chiropractic care !!!

In 1996, Assendelft and colleagues5 published a rigorous assessment of treatments performed by chiropractors. Their review included 8 randomized clinical trials of chiropractic for treatment of low back pain. All of these studies had serious flaws in their design, execution, and reporting. The authors found “no convincing evidence for the effectiveness of chiropractic for acute or chronic low back pain.”5

Since the publication of the Assendelft et al. article, several additional randomized controlled trials of chiropractic spinal manipulation for back pain have emerged.6–9 Results of these trials, which included a total of 741 patients suffering from acute, subacute, or chronic back pain, did not show an advantage of chiropractic over control treatments (i.e., physiotherapy, educational booklets, oral medications, acupuncture, or steroid injections). Thus, the conclusions drawn by Assendelft et al.5 6 years ago seem to be still valid today.

Also in Sihanoukville now?

Damn, people are getting really short sentences for drug dealing in Thailand these days.

some light reading :D
"A 2006 Gallup Poll found that chiropractic rated dead last among health professions with regard to ethics and honesty.1 Why? People are curious about the poor reputation of chiropractic,2 and confused about the nature of chiropractic.3 Often inspired by their own negative experiences, they ask me what I think.

This article is a survey of chiropractic controversies and issues that patients should be aware of."

I see you mention acupuncture up there, that's also quackery. They did real tests and it doesn't matter where you stick pins into people, the fact that your CNS only deals with one pain input at a time means any other new pain effectively blocks out the old. Until it stops. So nothing to do with the nebulous "chi" nor a cure, or at least no better than stubbing your toe regularly as a means of pain management. The placebo effect is proven, though. Don't stop believing. I think it was a song.

As long as it works for you why not ?
I have had a very good result from a chiropractor also, but it was from the "soft" school, not the jerk and crack squad. If chiropractors were properly licensed that would prevent the Chiro-joes from setting up fake practices. That would be more helpful than rejecting the whole thing I think.

I don't have problems with homeopathy, acupuncture or witch doctors either, within limits of course. Don't underestimate the power of placebos. Most of the time I'm fine with conventional medicine, but sometimes it doesn't work.

However, I would not go to a chiropractor on steroids (with meth and gun convictions) - but that's just me. :drooling bouncy:
