Cambodia - you make me laugh!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Jeez, I thought most people knew that there is no difference. They are/were both funded and trained by the US.
Mr. Yentieng ended with a warning to anonymous critics. “If you are anonymous, be careful. Some day you will fail,” he said. “Please don’t think that I will not react.”
"Come On, If You Think Your Hard Enough!!!" He said. "My sons will shoot you in the head", he continued, whilst lunging at me with an exotic fru-it.
“While there is no law to prevent nepotism in public institution[s], official[s] usually feel defensive to his or her decision making,” Mr. Chey said in an email. “It is human.”
It is human? I thought he was a Khmer? They're a race of cosmic aliens that entered Earth's atmosphere in 5 giant space craft currently parked in SR. Just waiting for, not so much the second-coming, as some decent plumbing.

Meh Something Funny.

Lol. Officer perfects a new technique of getting sober:
An immigration police officer was arrested on Saturday evening for allegedly conducting what authorities are calling a drunken shooting spree at a mango farm in Kandal’s Kampong Svay commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Touch Enan, the Deputy Commander of Kandal Provincial Military Police, said the officer, 33-year-old Captain Leng Socheath, fired nine bullets into the air in an attempt to sober himself up after getting drunk at about 5:30pm on Saturday...

^^^ The Khmer Times reports that he "fired nine bullets into the air".
The Camdodia Daily reports that he "shot nine rounds into the ground".

Obviously, he fired into the ground, the shots then ricocheted into the air.

That's a stupid theory ,,,,, I recon he fired them into the air, and Hok Lundy fired them back down to earth.

Official Jailed for Fraud Released for Wedding

by Khuon Narim | May 26, 2016 | អានជាភាសាខ្មែរ

The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court on Wednesday ordered the release of a former government official and convicted fraudster from prison so he could attend his daughter’s wedding, court officials said.

Tou Thean Teu, who was deputy governor of Banteay Meanchey until 2007, was arrested last week over a February conviction stemming from fraud committed in 2004 but spent only a week in jail before being let out again.

“The judge decided to release him on bail on Monday to join his child’s wedding party,” said Uk Saran, the clerk for Judge Mam Chanvanak...

Soum Chankea, provincial coordinator for rights group Adhoc, said it was the first time he had heard of a convicted prisoner being released on such grounds.

“Releasing someone on bail because of the business of a child’s wedding—that we have never heard of,” Mr. Chankea said.

 Might as well laugh about it. :plus1:
The image of Cambodian justice will not be greatly tarnished IMO.

I was once on a bus going to Poipet that broke down. I got speaking to a young Khmer couple who spoke no English (farmers). I had my Khmer girlfriend help me translate what I could not understand. They were asking that they had heard about the roads in the sky that the planes go along on and can they fall off the road. We tried not to be rude but both me and the misses could not help having a giggle before explaining that this is not the case.
