Anyone in KoW agree with NJH's views?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

My thoughts exactly.

I thought he could be funny at times, but then he got just plain nasty talking about his boyfriends.

He's not gay though, he says. Image

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."

Thanks Lucy. Here's 5 cents for the advice & a buck for the beer. :beer2: I feel better already.
NJH went home.

He is a Vlogger ,druggy that likes ladyboys.
Lived in PP 2 years then and all of a sudden he went home to america.

Interesting that nearly 20 expats i met, know of or drink with have left Cambodia since 2017.
Expats, or just idiots that hung around too long?
Both.

One thing they all had in common was the constant burned out/hungover look in there eyes .

I know of at least 5 long term expats (10+ years) that have gone home in the last year.

If I knew where to go, I'd probably bail too. The people arriving today are not real expats. Siem Reap FB page is now all about where to find vegan, gluten-free, Matcha and where to get the Hipster beard trimmed. WTF!!!! When I first came to Vietnam and Cambodia, all we cared about was finding a cold beer (and that was hard enough). This place has gone to shit, maybe I should head for North Korea.

You actually went to Mikey's!!! Are you surprised that the 50-something year old, disease-ridden slappers that have to deal with the dregs of expat society every night are unfriendly.

Not sure how Pub Street would be worse than KSR as I do not really frequent either; at least not in the evenings.

Right on the money, Hanno. Once I dumped the last Thai GF almost 2 years ago I felt an immense sense of freedom. But then within weeks, I had no idea where to go. I was sick of Thai culture. Rejected SR after a few visits because I could not bear to be surrounded by self-important, impolite, scrounging 30-somethings. PP visits turned up nothing but similarly aged heavy alcohol and drug abusers, wannabe rebels and a city drowning in development money. I've even weighed going back home; that's still on the agenda.

Here in Bangkok, if some of my friends, long-time expats, haven't already returned home, almost no one wants to go out anymore because it's just like home with grossly overpriced booze and middle-of-the-road entertainment. And I'm not a go go bar kind of guy; haven't been in one in 4 and a half years. Every single hangout we ever had is gone.

Moving to southern Vietnam this summer for a last try.

I am in Southern Vietnam at the moment. Temporary posting which is good, I worked in the Delta 6 years before. I like it here but it is not the place I would spend the next 10 years in. Best as I know, I am the only foreigner in town, sidewalks come up at 19:00, and HCMC and Phnom Penh are 7 and 5 hours away respectively. But no man buns in sight, that must count for something.
