Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.
Re: More Country Speak
looks very cool, thanks for sharing the videos. yeah, i never spend any time in the clubs. i think the dancing kind of look like modern version of rock n roll dancing where everyone just "lose it".jamie_lambo wrote: yeah Bek Sloy has a big reference to dancing... Dancing Bek Sloy... dancing all crazy like your fucked in the head... its the new style of "style" dancing they do to the "funky" music
ill post some examples
because depending whether you spend any time in the local khmer clubs you might not of seen/heard/know about all this....
now i think i understand this slang word. i think i'm posting in this forum like i'm bek sloy.
no problem, you're welcome.rozzieoz wrote: I have wondered this too, I'm so glad you posted this question.
Re: More Country Speak
I agree w/ Lambo.... you better put the words DANCING and STYLE in quotes.. . where is the rhythm? wtf is that ? maybe i sound like a snob but thats not dancing to me... looks like some corny harlem shake hit that fraternity guys were doing a year or 2 ago.. funny cause this is the real harlem shake

Re: More Country Speak
Thanks for the advice. Will wait for the official Khmer version of acceptable speech. Especially since I'm off to a nephew or niece's (there are 6 kids) birthday party next week in the province.taabarang wrote:So newkid you should be able to use these quite safely.
Would anyone know how much official construction costs would be out in the countryside? Trying to get a room that can fit a bed, toilet, shower, sink, and aircon built out there. House raising should be finished by the time I arrive.

thats exactly what fascinated me the first time i went to a khmer club with my ex 5 year ago,
we used to go every night and i was mesmerised by their dancing
it was so unorthodox, is the word i would use
the dancing is off beat, and completely random
you couldnt dance like that anywhere else in the world
and its not dancing that is easy to do either,
you just really have to let go of your inhibitions and take away the factor you probably look like a complete idiot lol
i love it

we used to have discussions about the language all the time
and with him being khmer also was always interesting to hear his side or for him to teach us something

Yes, it's great to have thelost onboard. But as for ", youve brought a refreshing side to the forum for me that was lost when Samouth stopped posting."
I do not miss Samouth's overrated and mishandled writing style at all. Plus he was too removed from the rural scene to be of any use to my inquiries and purposes.
