More Country Speak

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

looks very cool, thanks for sharing the videos. yeah, i never spend any time in the clubs. i think the dancing kind of look like modern version of rock n roll dancing where everyone just "lose it".

now i think i understand this slang word. i think i'm posting in this forum like i'm bek sloy.

Thanks for the advice. Will wait for the official Khmer version of acceptable speech. Especially since I'm off to a nephew or niece's (there are 6 kids) birthday party next week in the province.

Would anyone know how much official construction costs would be out in the countryside? Trying to get a room that can fit a bed, toilet, shower, sink, and aircon built out there. House raising should be finished by the time I arrive.

thats exactly what fascinated me the first time i went to a khmer club with my ex 5 year ago,
we used to go every night and i was mesmerised by their dancing
it was so unorthodox, is the word i would use
the dancing is off beat, and completely random
you couldnt dance like that anywhere else in the world
and its not dancing that is easy to do either,
you just really have to let go of your inhibitions and take away the factor you probably look like a complete idiot lol

i love it

haha not bek sloy, youve brought a refreshing side to the forum for me that was lost when Samouth stopped posting
we used to have discussions about the language all the time
and with him being khmer also was always interesting to hear his side or for him to teach us something

Yes, it's great to have thelost onboard. But as for ", youve brought a refreshing side to the forum for me that was lost when Samouth stopped posting."

I do not miss Samouth's overrated and mishandled writing style at all. Plus he was too removed from the rural scene to be of any use to my inquiries and purposes.
