Emotional connection in the Cambodian family

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

ok now is clear, just a few "Cambodians do hug and kiss their parents and relatives if they have to be away out of the country (or parents home) for long time."
maybe only those westernized

Thais are the same in the country-- no contact
used to amaze me when my ex wife would go home and not having seen her mom/aunts for years ,
just a wai
I was perplexed, because a khmer acquitaince (a bit westernized) told me, that when he visit the parent after long time he hugs his mum.
Sometime as western it is not easy to know/understand the khmer culture particularly the village culture and not the PP westernized culture
