Ahh yes.. Cut off all my fingers and toes and I could still count on all my fingers and toes the # of guys who go out to a hostess bar looking for a dance partner or dinner date...... Denial or stupidity is happening here..PSD-Kiwi wrote:I think you'll find that Hostess bar owners do not take a cut of the earnings that their staff make once they've left the bar...the staff are the ones who are fined for leaving work early, they just pass the fine onto the customer who wants to take the staff member away from work early...not all staff leave the bar early to go with customers for sex, some customers just want someone to show them around, go dancing, etc.NokTang wrote:Barang pimps

Save your digits mate. It does happen, at least it does here in Pattaya with the GoGo girls. Some guys want to be seen with a woman even if they don't know the public around them. Call it what you wish. The girls actually hate it but of course, money talks. The GoGo girls here would much rather get the ST over with and get with their real friends/boyfriend and the drugs and drinking the Thai way, outdoor and loud as volume is free.Sir_Quality_U_Feel wrote: Ahh yes.. NokTang wrote:In the context we refer, this position doesn't hold. It remains illegal to "fine" people for not coming to work. How the garment industry there gets away with it I of course don't know. Their reputation isn't exactly stellar as we all know. Lost production/profits isn't a basis to make someone working in the lowest sectors pay fines via wage garnishment, earned wages. How it can be justified in some minds remains a mystery. As I also said, in this context, that of a house of prostitution, why do you even need the brick and mortar building? Just fine them via straight forward extortion.Kuroneko wrote: Don't forget that the fine represents "lost production" not the daily payment to the employee. This is the same in the garment industry, the employee is fined in excess of the daily rate to both compensate the employer for lost production and an incentive for the employee to turn up. If the girl is working in the bar she is generating income from lady drinks that is lost if she isn't there.
As to your good outline of the Human Trafficking requirements, those arguments are made as you know in court, not the court of public opinion. Rest assured, a foreigner pimping prostitutes in a third world country is going to wait all this out in jail unless he has very deep pockets. Attempts to sell girls aka "permanent barfine" is not only a scam, but human trafficking. Book him Dano. The claim he will lose profits if she quits is laughable albeit true but no justification legally or any other way to take her earned wages for work completed. Imagine McDonalds trying it on? And to then try it on the other foreigner as if he agreed to buy her in the first place?

Excuse the meaty comparison but it's nothing more than mutton dressed as lamb, generally hostess bars are indoors and Pattaya beer bars are generally outdoors. In NGO central and the socially conscious upwardly mobile new Phnom Penh I can understand it I honestly can.jah steu wrote:Ahhhhhhhhhh....... now I understand...NokTang wrote: ....does happen, at least it does here in Pattaya....
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.
Re: Scammed at Sharky Bar in Phnom Penh:
The once again childlike replies are noted. I'm sure you both get all worked up when making them. Suffice to say once again, some guys come to town thinking they can go on dates with girls half or a third their age and the girl actually actually enjoys the date/dinner/disco. Those of us locally know she'd rather eat alone at a noodle stand than go to some western restaurant with a farang.
Back on the topic, that of scamming lady drinks at Sharky Bar. Are we done with that? I think everyone's tired of the excuses and name calling from the other western run businesses there in PNH. Time to move along.

That's what the jailed "bar owners" and their "managers" say. Odd thing is, it doesn't get them a get out of jail card. Yes, I think it's not only stupid for a barang to get into the prostitution business in third world countries, they are as mentioned targeted by NGO's who want to rid the world of all prostitution, be it local or the barang type with their covers of "you aren't paying for sex" and "it's only to release her from work".

If hostesses hate going dancing with customers, why are they always asking to go to Pontoon?
Re: Scammed at Sharky Bar in Phnom Penh:
Looking for the next customer, or dare I say it, a "better" customer to replace the one in tow?PhnomRon wrote:If hostesses hate going dancing with customers, why are they always asking to go to Pontoon?
Regular girls can be found in Martini's as well, just wanting to dance with others. Might I suggest to you that you give that a go if you want to dance?
DISCLOSURE: I've never been in Pontoon myself.

I went out for karaoke once with girls from one hostess bar. Their idea. Food, drinks, room etc for three hours cost about $100. I don't think the girls hated it; they keep pestering me to take them again.
