Discos/KTVs in SHV (places and special events)

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

I've been in Taboo once and it was one of the worst long island ice teas I've ever tasted. Like syphoning petrol. They use that shit Rostov vodka and lighter fluid.

Dunno what quality of booze they use in their mixed drinks, but I've had some raging hangovers from there...probably due to trying different cocktails after drinking beer or wine elsewhere, think I'll stick to straight mixes or buy a bottle next time.

That was my SOP in LOS for years, generally bottles always came with mixers(or they were cheap) and a decent whisky or vodka would be 40-60$ all in depending on venue. Lots of places around Chiang Mai would sell JW Red for about 1100bht (700bht in the stores). Here it seems you never get mixers and bottles are more expensive (45$ for JW Red at LV and 3$ mixers), I've never really figured it out! Whisky soda was my go to for years, easy on the hangovers too!

I do like how they keep hold of the bottle for you for next time you come in if you dont finish it lol

When i used to live in Thailand in Hua Hin, i sometimes used to bring my own bottle of vodka to the local and just pay for the mixers, as long as i shared it with the owner (thai lady) lol

There is a state in the US that is named Oklahoma (means red people) that you MUST bring your own bottle to the bar & buy the mixers. Pearl button shirts, big belt buckles & cowboy boots & hat mandatory. Godawful place!

Jamie: Thanks, I'll have to go look as I don't remember a bar opposite Utopia. A travel agency, restaurant, I think the Big Easy is around there and a little store/sandwich shop.

I've had fairly funky tasting cocktails over the years in SEA. A few years ago a friend and I were going to the old Excyte in patters and stopped across the soi to get a bottle of johnnie red to take in with us. I don't recall the exact baht, but they had one bottle on the shelf with the tax sticker/stamp that was like 800-900 baht, they then offered a bottle from under the counter with no sticker/stamp for about 500-600 baht (like 60% of the price). got me thinking and worried. wasn't sure if it was real and contraband (skipping the tax) or made in the tub in some thai apt on the dark side! I bought the more expensive bottle that time. over the years I've had a couple of those 'just shoot me' hangovers when I prolly should not have and it worried me. Now I usually just drink beer as I assume it's beer. gets to be a bit filling but, as I said, I'm pretty sure it beer.

Good idea on the thread BTW. maybe heading to snooky sometime in the next few weeks and it's always good to get updates before arrival. want to take the train to check it out.

cheers

yeah its to the left of the big easy, there is a big of a road that goes up to the left of that nice looking tattoo place, theres a little cul de sack of shops and its at the back, you should see the discolights coming from the upstairs windows, downstairs is a restaurant/bar, upstairs is the club/bar
