transferring large sums of money
transferring large sums of money
greetings.
having fallen in love with the country and its people on a visit last year, I'm now planning a long-term move to Cambodia.
I would like to start or buy a business, but I have a technical question: what is the best/easiest/fastest way to transfer a large sum of money (enough to make a down payment on a business purchase) to Cambo? Travellers' cheques, a wire, a counter withdrawal?
thx,

Open a bank account with ABA (or another Cambodian bank, but I highly recommend ABA), then do an International transfer from your home account to your Cambodian account, simple.

I want to know the answer to this as well.PSD-Kiwi wrote:Open a bank account with ABA (or another Cambodian bank, but I highly recommend ABA), then do an International transfer from your home account to your Cambodian account, simple.
I opened an account at ABA Bank, but a transfer from my Australian account via SWIFT went via an intermediary bank who charged a % based fee which was less than ideal. There's got to be a cheaper way.

Open an account with ABA, then open up an account with RFX (if youre in UK) get into contact with them to do all the security checks and tell them your situation and ask for no cash limit, then just transfer as much money as you like, ive used them a lot, they give a very good exchange rate and their handling fee is about £5, i did have a few blips with them due to security checks but got it sorted in the end, it is a good way to get sums of money across with minimal fees

I previously used UCB and it was easy with minimal expense.
Re: transferring large sums of money
why ABA bank, of all banks? Others have recommended Canadia (no withdrawal fee if you use their cards on their ATMs)..

The ease of opening an account, their internet banking, option for Visa or MasterCard debit cards, plenty of ATMs, their customer service, just to name a few.agenius wrote:why ABA bank, of all banks? Others have recommended Canadia (no withdrawal fee if you use their cards on their ATMs)..
I have accounts with ABA, Acleda and Canadia...but I always recommend ABA out of the 3.
