What kind of work do you plan to do as a digital nomad? It seems to me most people who consider themselves digital nomads are bloggers and travel writers. I'm sure there must be other kinds because how many bloggers and travel writers does the world need?

This ^^

It took me 6.5 years to break through, but I aimed big. The road is bleak and most likely you will fail. It took my 7th site to get to where I am.

The other side is glorious and the world could be yours if done right.

Id say set aside at least a year, or maybe even two to make any sort of money of travel blogging.

Along with the four things mentioned: Affiliate marketing, Word Press, Kiss, the bleak road, I would add developing partnering tactics and learning
to bring incredible value with everything you do.

Good Luck!
