More splendid plans for luxury hotels and resorts to be built in Cambodia with Chinese investment. There are clearly not enough gigantic tourist development plans already in the works and the Royal Group will be happy to have a partner with big pockets to assist with initial financing.

$3 billion 6-star hotels
China-based Guangzhou Co. Ltd. plans to inject $3 billion in building luxury six-star hotels in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, an aide to Prime Minister HE said yesterday

“Both of them discussed the timeframe for the investment and Mr. Zhang Li agreed to invest around $3 billion in the next three to five years,” said Mr. Sophalleth. “One of the first projects will be the building luxury six-star hotels in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville,” he added. Mr. Sophalleth also said that Mr. HE wanted Mr. Zhang Li to work with Mr. Kith Meng [chairman of Royal Group].

Last June, a group of Chinese investors announced that they planned to establish a $3 billion international resort center in Preah Sihanouk province to tap into the kingdom’s burgeoning tourism industry. A representative of East Union Silk Road, one of the joint-venture investment companies in the project, told Khmer Times that the resort would cover 337 hectares of land in a large tourism area...

6 star hotel? I thought they only went to 5.....
So I googled it: according to wiki it only goes to 5 although there is something called 5 star "S". one hotel claims to be a 7 star hotel in other news.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_rating (if you're bored)

There is a wide variety of rating schemes used by different organizations around the world. Many have a system involving stars, with a greater number of stars indicating greater luxury. Forbes Travel Guide, formerly Mobil Travel Guide, launched its star rating system in 1958. The AAA and their affiliated bodies use diamonds instead of stars to express hotel and restaurant ratings levels.

good for the construction workers and prolly the economy in general as they pump in all that money.

cheers
