Where to get Citalopram (medication)?
I have a prescription for Citalopram from the UK but I need to get some more quite soon. Im currently in Laos which doesn't seem to have it but I was planning on heading to Cambodia next week. Does anyone know if you can get this medication in Cambodia? I don't mind seeing a doctor for this if necessary.
Thanks
Thanks

I've never used this medication but the following link will point you to the most recommended pharmacy in Phnom Penh. You.might be able to find cheaper later but this is a start.

Its an anti anxiety but if I stop taking it ill get withdrawal symptoms which apparently can be quite unpleasant. So its not a simple case of finding a substitute.

There are many drugs in the same benzodiazepine family readily available.
Diazepam, Alprazolam, Lorazepam are the top three here.
But of course all benzos are not created equal.
There are some non-benzo drugs with anxiolytic action available as well.

I used it for a while, ages ago, as an antidepressant. Ironically it made me "buzzy" - a bit like when you've been tweaking on acid all day and need a valium to take the edge off. Don't know where to get it here though, sorry. But yeah you aren't supposed to stop taking it suddenly, you have to ease off the dosage, so if you don't find it, just ease off slowly.JamesBrighton wrote:Its an anti anxiety but if I stop taking it ill get withdrawal symptoms which apparently can be quite unpleasant. It's an SSRI, not a benzo.Luigi wrote:There are many drugs in the same benzodiazepine family readily available.

Are you sure about that?JamesBrighton wrote:Its an anti anxiety but if I stop taking it ill get withdrawal symptoms which apparently can be quite unpleasant. So its not a simple case of finding a substitute.
I would have to agree with timmydownawell, it is an SSRI. aka, an anti-depressant.
As mentioned above, Pharmacie Dela Garre, near the train station should have whatever you need. No prescription necessary.
When buying 'real' medication in Cambodia, it can be a good idea to get enough for a couple of months. Sometimes they run out, and don't know when they will have more (really sucks if you're on a course of something).

A friend of mine takes it for anxiety as well, maybe it's a lower dosage.Username Taken wrote:Are you sure about that?JamesBrighton wrote:Its an anti anxiety but if I stop taking it ill get withdrawal symptoms which apparently can be quite unpleasant. ^^ Yes, but if you google 'Citalopram' it comes up clearly as an SSRI.
