How To: Attach Images And Videos To Posts.

Content of this post.

IMAGES:
1. Images from the internet.
2. Images from Google Image search.
3. Images from your PC.

VIDEOS:
1. Videos from Youtube.
2. Videos from Vimeo.
3. Videos from Liveleak.
4. Videos from Facebook.
5. Your own video straight from your PC or phone.

IMAGES:

1. Images from the internet.
Let’s say you see a nice image on a website that you would like to add to your post:
Right-click on the image, and click on ‘Copy Image Location’.

Image

Then in your post, click on the Image icon above the post text area. This will give you the Image

Hit Preview to see if it worked.

Image

If it didn’t work, it’s probably because you have the selected the URL icon instead of Img icon.
You must have:
Opening square bracket + img + Closing square bracket <image url> Opening square bracket + / + img + Closing square bracket. Anything else will fail.

2. Images from Google Image search.
Find the image that you want and open it in a new tab.
On the right, you have the choice to ‘Visit Page’ or ‘View Image’. Click on View Image.
At the top you will have the URL for the image. Copy the URL.
Then in your post, click on the Image icon above the post text area. This will give you the 'img' tags.
Your cursor should be in the middle of the image tags. Right click and Paste.
Hit Preview to see if it worked.

3. Images from your PC.
Just below the Post a Reply text box, you will see ‘tinypic’, click on that.

Image

When the box opens, click on Browse and search your PC for the image that you want. Select the image then click on Open. Depending on the size of your image, you may want to click on the Resize dropdown and change the size.

Image

Now, next to the Browse button you will see the name of your image. Click on the green Upload Now button. After a moment, you will see the image code/url. Forget about that! Just click on the ‘Place Inline’ button, and it will be posted into the text box for you.

Image

Hit Preview to see if it worked.

Image

If you have several images to upload and they are not too large, you can now place images next to each other to save space. (As below).

VIDEOS:
1. Videos from Youtube.
Open the Youtube video that you want to share. The Youtube URL will look something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1-8r5XTLqo
The only part of that URL that you need is the part to the right of the equals sign. i.e r1-8r5XTLqo
Copy that number.
Then in your post, click on the ‘youtube’ icon above the post text area. This will give you the [youtube] tags.

Image

Your cursor should be in the middle of the youtube / youtube. Right click and Paste.

Image

Hit Preview to see if it worked.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1-8r5XTLqo

2. Videos from Vimeo:
As above, but click on the ‘vimeovideo’ button, and add the video number on the end of the URL.
https://vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks/144123742

For the above video, you only need ‘144123742’ between the 'vimeovideo' tags.

http://vimeo.com/144123742

3. Videos from Liveleak:
As above, but click on the ‘liveleak’ button, and add the video number on the end of the URL.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=81f_1446236831

For the above video, you only need ‘81f_1446236831’ between the [liveleak] tags.

[liveleak]81f_1446236831[/liveleak]

4. Videos from Facebook:
For a Facebook video to work, it must be available to the Public. You can see this by the little ‘globe’ icon in the bottom right below the video, where it says ‘Shared with <globe icon> Public’. (See #1 in the image below).
If you are logged in to Facebook, you can right-click on the video, and click on ‘Show video URL’. (See #2 in the image below).

Image

After clicking on ‘Show video URL’, the URL that you need will appear at the top of the video. Right-click and Copy the URL. (See image below).

Image

The above, is the correct way to get the video’s URL.
However, if you don’t play Facebook or are too lazy to log-in, you can copy the URL from the top of your browser. This also seems to work, but there is no guarantee that this will work forever.

Next, in your new post, click on the ‘FBvideo’ button, then paste the entire URL between the

5. Your own video straight from your PC or phone:
Imagine that you’re on your way home from work, and then you suddenly see a situation that is causing surprise or shock i.e. Breaking News. You pull out your iPhone and start recording your video.
You can now upload that directly from your phone (or PC) to CEO without the need for a Youtube or any other account.

Click on New Post, or Post Reply.
Just below the Post a Reply text box, you will see ‘tinypic’, click on that.
When the box opens, it will show the ‘image’button selected, click on the ‘video’ button. Click on Browse and search your PC for the video that you want to share. Select the video then click on Open. Now, next to the Browse button you will see the name of your video. Click on the green Upload Now button. After a moment, you will see the video code/url. Forget about that! Just click on the ‘Place Inline’ button, and it will be posted into the text box for you.
Unfortunately, the video will not be embedded. There will be a link saying ‘View My Video’. When someone clicks on the link, it will open in a new tab/window.

Sorry, I don't see a direct way to do this. Maybe I have to signup or something.

And now for the Good News: (keep in mind, we're dealing with the big WWW here)
1. Follow your link.
2. HIghlight and copy the name of the video. In this case, "Images de la fusillade au Bataclan".
3. Go to youtube.com and paste the above 'Images de la fusillade au Bataclan'.
4. Press Enter.

Then just follow the original How-To for how to link to a youtube video.

Here you go.

I was thinking of attempting a trip report on my little excursion next week if I can come back with anything remotely interesting. Posting a load of photos if I'm not too pissed to get them in focus would probably make it more worthwhile.

I usually take pictures in raw format but would I be right in saying the files would likely be too big to post and I should stick to jpeg format ?

Thanks.

I think the TinyPic image uploader thing will automatically resize them.

Anyhow, if you have any issues you can PM me and I'll try to help.
